Firstly my apologies to all for the late publication of the results of Unipower Team Denmark’s participation at the Viborg Classic last weekend, due to my having been away from my computer all this week.
So it was that the weekend of the 23rd/24th May saw the return of chassis UWF1012 to the race track at the Viborg Classic as reported in the last Blog on the Unipower GT Owners Club website.
The cumulation of a huge effort by Christian and his team at Cavazzi Racing, who are running the car in behalf of its owner and my good friend Michael Hvid, in repairing and preparing the car after its crash at last year’s Viborg race.

Practice saw the Unipower GT running in the up to 1300cc class, driven by Christian Cavazzi, take fastest time overall with an 01:30.589 on the challenging street circuit around the industrial estate in Viborg.
Interest in the car and team was high, with a Local Radio station visiting the Team to hear all about the rare Unipower GT that had been brought to Denmark by Michael.
The participation of a Unipower GT in Denmark is all the more special, as the last time a Unipower GT had raced in Denmark, was on the FDM Jyllandsringen circuit at Resenbro, near Silkeborg on the 24th August 1969, when Piers Weld-Forester raced chassis UWF1007 in three races at the GP of Denmark. This chassis was the car which tried to qualify for the Le Mans 24hrs and subsequently sold to Stanley Robinson, who had co-driven the car in qualifying with Piers Forester. This chassis would go on to be destroyed at the Nurburgring on the 18th October 1970.

Race Qualifying would see Christian take 3rd place before in Heat 1 on Saturday, finishing 1st in Class and 3rd overall. A great result.
Heat 2 later on Saturday, the Unipower GT would finish 2nd in Class and 5th overall, again a fantastic result and a big boost for Unipower Team Denmark.
The Final race held on Sunday, saw them start the race 1st in Class and 3rd place overall on the Grid. After and exciting race, Christian finished 2nd in Class and 5th overall.

What a fairytale finish to the herculean effort by all Team members with a podium place as just reward for all their toils. The Club and I would like to add our congratulations to Michael and to Christian for their success and will watch with interest their objective to race their Unipower GT at the 2027 Le Mans Classic. Now that will be very special.
But then maybe I should consider getting the last remaining ex-Works competition chassis 766.2 ready to race alongside UWF1012 in2027 at Le Mans.

Whilst chassis 766.2 has participated in the Le Mans Legends on three occasions whilst in my ownership, it would be very special indeed to have two Unipower GT’s racing at Le Mans !!. Would't it ?
