Kelly Wittenauer has kindly provided this update on this seasons early races in her Unipower Competition GT.
Last weekend's outing was at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, IL. I qualified about 2.5 seconds a lap quicker than last year, but that still had me staring about 2/3 of the way back on the grid. Started 18th in Friday's 45 minute enduro and completed the full race length, finishing 11th of 26 cars overall & 2nd of 6 in my class.
Saturday's events included a sprint race, in which I started & finished 20th of 32 cars overall, as well as a heat race, where I started 19th & finished 16th of 28 overall. Placed 6th of 12 in my class in both the sprint & heat.
Started 13th in Sunday's feature race, finishing 11th of 26 overall & 3rd of 9 in my class. Was pleased to finish on the lead lap in all but the enduro. Unfortunately, Sunday afternoon's handicap scramble didn't go as well. The throttle hung & I had to drop out on lap 10 of 15. leaving me in last place.
