The well known Classic Car Weekly paper was present at the NEC Classic Motor Show recently and visited the Club's stand.
A recently completed (the day before the Show opened) new body on its rebuilt chassis was on display and drew a huge amount of interest, as its not very often that its possible to see the 'skeleton' that is the basis of such a complex and innovative car from the 60's.
Such was the interest, that the weekly newspaper took photographs and interviewed its owner Guy Monty, who was assisting Club's team at the Show in answering general questions about the marque. The new body had been commissioned by Guy to replace the original body that had been found to have been poorly repaired in the past. It is Guy's intention that the car when finished will be as close as possible to factory specification and finish. The Club's Gerry Hulford has been providing the knowledge and assistance in its construction, using the vital original factory body moulds to ensure accuracy and originality of its new body.
Many of the original parts for the car have already been refurbished while the body and chassis were being rebuilt, but there is obviously a huge amount of work still to be done by Guy.
You can follow its progress on these Blog pages over past and coming months.
